Eagle
Rock 63, El Camino 42

By Robert Ramire Jr., BS Sports Writter

Eagle Rock, Ca. Me being
the founder of Best Sport which covers
the Northeast City Section Prep and JC's.
And now alittle of Occidental College
too, nothings more satisfying to see a
team in the NE Section win in the
playoffs over another city section team
as did the Eagle Rock Eagles (12-6, 9-1).
See it's
about the section, not just my alumni. So
when a team comes from another city
section to play a team that BS mainly
promotes and our team wins, it's just
that much more satisfying. Especially
come playoff time.

That's
what Best Sport's all about.
Promoting the NE athletes and
teams. So when the Eagles won at
home versus El Camino Real (9-20,
0-10) by 21 points, 63-42. It
made this all worth while to
promote our athletes. Someday the
NE will have a superstar.
Players
from the Eagles may have grown
some dislike towards me because
I'm a Franklin Alumni, but there
are a couple of players on the
Eagles teams #15 J. Rivas who got
the start today and #41 J.
Alvarez who I'd like to see
succeed.
I
use to cheer them guys on when
they played park ball. Besides
hoping the best for the whole
team to see success through the
playoffs.

El
Camino Real, just coming off a
victory over #9 Narbonne, had
upset on their minds. But not
tonight, not in the Eagles house.
I've covered a few Eagles games
this season and I've never seen
them play this well.
Perfect
time to put together an excellent
game. Led by "Player of
the game" #45 S.
Phillips 18 points, who I believe
is one of the smartest and
consistent players in the league.
He has size, range and court
awareness that you don't see a
high school player usually have.
He
scored in every quarter again.
Eagles, only up by two, 17-15
after the first period, Phillips
led an Eagles team to 14
unanswered points in the second
period, scoring 7 to give the
Eagles a comfortable lead 31-17
with 2:52 showing on the clock.
The Eagles out score their
opponents 21-6 in that period.

Only
two players from El Camino Real
score in the second period, #2
Mike Sher with 4 and #5 Alex
Reyes with 2 points. The Eagles
went into the half up by 19,
38-21. El Camino Real trimmed the
deficit to 14 points 38-52 at the
4:33 mark in the third but would
never get any closer.
The
Eagles finally sealing the game
in the fourth period on some nice
free throw shooting by #11 A.
Hutalla who hit all 6 free throws
to finish the scoring. Another
Eagle had standout stats.
5'10" SR # 21 Stanley Ibarra
with 13 points, made 8 out of 10
free throws and a three pointer.
#4
Eagles travel to #1 Bell on
Wednesday, Feb 20, 2008. Game @
7:00 pm.
